SkyWest InFlight Association (SIA) is pleased to announce that we have agreed upon our thirteenth (13) policy enhancement with SkyWest Inflight Management in 2018! This agreement will make a change to SP 2313, Leaves of Absence, On-the-Job Injuries, and Workers Compensation.
SIA has been working for quite some time on enhancements/improvements for our Flight Attendants that would like to take extra time off after the birth of their child. This new policy will allow a Flight Attendant the option to take additional leave of up to one (1) year off after giving birth to their child. The new policy is included below and is effective on Oct. 1, 2018.
Enhancement to the policy:
SP 2313.10
10. Additional Leave
A. A flight attendant who has physically given birth, may elect to remain on a leave of absence beyond that which is provided above. This additional leave will be handled as follows:
- The Company will provide a leave of absence of up to one year from date of birth of the child when requested by the flight attendant.
- The leave of absence request must be made no later than 30 days prior to the expiration of the flight attendant’s maternity or medical absence from above.
- The leave of absence will directly follow leave noted above and must be continuous.
- The Company may provide a leave of absence that extends beyond one year from the date of birth of the child, when requested by a flight attendant. If granted, the seniority and pay scale of the flight attendant will stop accruing (be frozen) at one year from the date of birth of the child until the flight attendant returns to work.
SIA continues to work for YOU in making quality of life improvements and enhancements. When we see changes in the industry, competitor contract improvements or other work group enhancements, SIA seizes that opportunity to negotiate on your behalf. We feel this new policy will be a fantastic benefit for our Flight Attendants!
