The Safety Committee includes the Fatigue Pay Committee (FPC). The FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 mandated a Fatigue Program along with the 10-hour rest rule. Three policies are included in the Fatigue Program: SP 2150 – Inflight Fatigue Risk Management Plan, SP2307.12 – Fatigue Calls, and SP 2308.21 – Fatigue Pay. The InFlight Fatigue Risk Management Plan Flight Attendant Fatigue Guide is a very useful guide that outlines the procedures for calling in Fatigued as well as information regarding Reliability and Pay Protection.
A common misconception is that a Flight Attendant can call in Fatigue and work the flight back to base. The Flight Attendant is immediately pulled from their pairing when they call off Fatigue. Once you are removed from your pairing you could be deadheaded home if it is available, but more than likely you will be given a hotel room.
It is non-punitive in that the reliability will not be affected. Flight Attendants, however; will still be responsible for the quarterly hours.
Once your Fatigue call is recorded by Crew Support, you are required to complete the Fatigue Report Form (FRF) on SkyWest Online within 24 hours of the fatigue event, or within 24 hours of the end of your trip sequence, whichever is longer.
Once you have declared yourself fatigued, you are prohibited from utilizing non-revenue or reciprocal cabin/jumpseat privileges, until you have completed the required rest period and are once again fit for duty. You are also strongly encouraged to abstain from the operation of any motor vehicle until you have completed the required rest period.
