What’s the point in flight attendants being forced to vote for a SIA vice president when there’s only one candidate that was clearly chosen by the company?! Additionally, what’s the point in voting for a SIA general representative when there’s only two candidates that were clearly picked by the company?! When we can’t even choose our own representatives, that is extremely concerning. To see in action how little this company cares about actually representing and advocating for their flight attendants is a major red flag.

I can understand your concern for the situation surrounding the VP position.
Although I don’t know of LuAnn (her ambitions seem to come from the right place for the position at hand), however I can guarantee you Amy speaks the voice of an FA from her heart and has no issues questioning Company behavior that goes against our QOL.I encourage all FAs to VOTE and if they are not comfortable placing a vote on a category or subject they feel disenfranchised by, then by all means leave that section blank. This action sends a very clear message to an election committee that the category created confusion, mistrust, or the polled body lacked the necessary information to make an informed decision.
Your VOTE matters and is only counted if submitted. The number of ballots cast vs the votes a category gets can in some cases not allow a candidate to achieve a position by lacking a majority of the electorate (VOTES Cast).
If this is not the case for the VP position needing a majority and one is lacking in an electronic would/should give reason for our Bylaws to be revisited and adjusted accordingly.Just my opinions as I appreciate you voicing your concerns.
Nichole ReddishDecember 13, 2022 at 2:25 am #15289I assure your the General Rep position at least in Amy Hurst case was not hand picked by the company I know nothing about the other candidate but I would probably guess the same.
The VP position is clearly a set up to gain the result wanted by OO and therefore SIA. As stated above if you don’t believe in the vote DO NOT VOTE! Leave it blank. It was set up in a way to cause confusion for FA’s new or not knowledgeable as the the SIA president stated most FA’s aren’t. Going to show the lack of trust and respect given to the the member by the EC.
Erika RobertsonDecember 13, 2022 at 1:04 pm #15293Hello Bekah,
As your collective bargaining unit, we represent labor (Flight Attendants). The Company represents Management positions.
The General Representatives on the ballot both sent in their Letter of Intent. Any of our 4200 SIA members who were eligible to run were encouraged to put in their Letter of Intent. Hopefully, once you meet the minimum requirements to run, we will see your name on an upcoming ballot.
Thank you for your engagement,
Erika
