On the forum Sonya mentioned Charter flights will only be given to RSV FA if they have enough. Its’s not productive to pay a line holder when they’re already paying RSV’s. I understand the logic to that but if they trips are scheduled prior to the 5 day window when trips are assigned to RSV doesn’t withholding them violate the scheduling policy? It would be nice if they were in the bid if known in advance or placed on the board for pickup or exchange. Seems like another issue where CS can manipulate the schedules and they are already swamped most of the time as it is. What about the RSV’s who like to use call 1st and watch open time for trips they would like to work. If someone could ensure this doesn’t contradict the existing policy that would be helpful.

Brent Coates (SIA Rep)January 17, 2023 at 11:18 am #15542Thanks again for your patience in getting you a response. As this is something that isn’t common I needed to reach out above my pay-grade to ensure I was giving you accurate information.
This is per Sonya Wolford InFlight VP from an email that was sent to her for clarification on your question:
“If the SkyWest Airlines charter pairing has been solidified prior to the bid and no changes are anticipated, the pairing would be added into the bid. In most cases charter flights have many changes prior to the actual service (dates, times and sometimes even destinations). If not in the bid, the OCC waits for the final details and then loads the pairing. If this is outside the five day window the pairing is added to open time, if inside the 5 day window, the pairing is assigned to a reserve.”
I would note in her response that these pairings change quite frequently (as the organization or person(s) requesting the charter have the ability to do so), which is a big reason they aren’t in the bid package.
As these pairings may or may not be in the bid package, they are utilizing reserves to cover the operation, whether it is normally scheduled operations or our supplemental charter operation. As such, nothing is being violated in regard to our contract, and just for further clarification for everyone who reads this, if a flight is being operated on SkyWest Airlines metal with OO FA’s, it is an OO operated flight will all expenses and revenues going to SkyWest Airlines and not SkyWest Charter.
I hope this helps clarify things
Thanks again for reaching out.
All the best.
