Now that we are required to go through the FULL BODY SCANNER in Canada (my experience has been in YEG and started Jan 1st), is there any way to get extra pay for thus? We weren’t given any notice (in fact one of the security guards got reprimanded “for not reading the memo” when she let the pilots thru the regular scanner. As my bags had already gone thru before being told of their new policy I had to have a pat down as well due to panty liners in my pocket and not taking off my boots. Then this week I knew to clear my pockets and bring my slipper socks so I could take off my boots, but there was still some sort of “bulge” by my thigh, so I was patted down again. This is kind of ridiculous for crew – maybe we can have an extra background check or something instead? Or at least give us some extra pay for dealing with this – it’s getting to the point of harassment.

Hello Kelly,
Did you already notify the Company? They may not be aware of the change. If not, we can definitely pass on your experience to Management on your behalf. Extra compensation would need to be negotiated so you would need to complete a Policy Proposal (Talk to SIA > Policy Proposal) to begin that process.
Thank you for your engagement,
Erika
